King George, VA
Edgewood was once a part of Berkeley Plantation, the ancestral home of U.S. Presidents William Henry and Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout time it has served as a church, post office, telephone exchange, restaurant, nursing home and a signal post for the Confederates to spy on McLellan’s Army. It is currently a Bed & Breakfast.
Edgewood is a historic landmark circa 1849. Its said the spirit who haunts the place is Lizzie Rowland waiting for her love to return from the Civil War. He never returned, so she still waits. You can possibly speak with her on one of their daytime tours currently offered to the public.
